ANNA — The Anna FCCLA travelled to Indianapolis, Indiana, from Nov. 19 to 21, for a National Cluster Meeting. One middle school student and 17 high school students were in attendance.

A team of five, consisting of Damien Connelley, Anthony Edelmann, Korteney Kitchen, Sarah Layman and Colin Wuebker competed in the FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl. For this competition, the team completed an online test, an individual head to head competition, and a pool-play team buzzer competition over Family and Consumer Sciences knowledge.

The Anna FCCLA FCCLA/ LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl team won the competition at Indianapolis and will be competing at the 2016 National Leadership Conference in San Diego, California. The FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl is a three-level, team competition that challenges students’ knowledge of all aspects of personal finance, consumer rights and responsibilities, technology, health and safety, the environment, and FCCLA knowledge. Members participated in both online and on-site levels of competition

Students who did not compete in the FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl participated in a Youth Networking Session to meet other members from around the country and to share ideas to build stronger local chapters. The chapter also attended informational workshops over traffic safety and career preparation.

State VP of Programs Damien Connelley was able to attend a state officer training, meeting with state officers from around the country to see what other state associations are doing with their social media and service learning outreach. This event was a great educational experience and opportunity to make connections throughout the organization.
