SIDNEY — The word “mirror”proved to be a lucky one for Breanna Colborn when she correctly spelled the word correctly to win the Christian Academy Schools spelling bee on Nov. 13.

Breanna, a sixth-grade student, was the top speller among 11 competers in grades three through eight who participated in the spelling bee. A classroom winner from each grade competed in the final competition.

The runner-up was Kole McAlexander, who is in the eighth-grade. Both Breanna and Kole will compete in the Sidney City-wide spelling bee.

Other participants in the spelling bee were third-graders Micah Overbey and Gavin Abbott; fourth-graders Madison Broughton and Haelei Davis; fifth-graders Lucas Carey and Eli Smith; sixth-grader Ryan Michael; and seventh-graders Koena Suttles and Shelby Mitchell.
