Rhodes offers police academy

LIMA — Rhodes State College will offer a basic police academy this summer.

After successful completion of the police academy, students are qualified to take the required Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission certification test to be a peace officer in Ohio.

The class sessions are scheduled from April 30 to Aug. 25. The application deadline is March 26. Academy orientations will take place March 29 and 30.

All students participating in the police academy must be at least 21 years of age at completion of academy, pass Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation records checks and pass a physical examination by students’ physicians.

The training course comprises 653 instructional hours, of which 22 college credit hours may be applied toward the two-year, associate degree in law enforcement at Rhodes State. Financial aid is available for qualified students.

Classes will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interested individuals should call 419-995-8195.
