JACKSON CENTER — The Jackson Center Board of Education held a special meeting on Monday, March 7 for the purpose of discussing the new building project.

Glen Renner from Peterson Construction and Dan Freytag, Larry Ludlow and Emily Zizelman of Freytag & Associates were in attendance and provided information as they presented a computer aided tour of the new building. The ground breaking for construction is tentatively scheduled for April 1.

The board then voted to approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendment for the Construction Manager Risk (CMR) agreement with Peterson Construction in the amount of $14,444,202. The GMP document also contains five construction milestones estimates:

Notice to Proceed: Zero Days, March 16, 2016

Building Temporary Enclosure: 290 Days, Dec. 31, 2016

New Building Substantial Completion: 472 Days, July 7, 2017

New Building Available for Owner Move: 503 Days, Aug. 1, 2017

Final Sitework Substantial Completion: 564 Days, Oct. 1, 2017

It was noted that achievement of these milestones can be impacted by spring weather patterns. Dry weather would allow an early start time and help ensure enclosure of the building by winter to allow necessary progress during the winter months.

The next board meeting will be March 21.
