Memories of senior sunrise

0

This is the photo that a few of my best friends and I took at the top of the bleachers during senior sunrise.

I only expected it to mark the beginning of what was supposed to be our final 10 months together at SHS before we graduated and be paired with a picture at our long-awaited senior sunset for an Instagram post.

Now, this photo only shows how naive we were to how unexpected life could be towards anyone at any time. All throughout high school, my friends and I always made it a point to emphasize how determined we were to make our senior class one Sidney could never forget. Before we were even seniors, we already had lists of themes for spirit week, activities for seniors to take part in, pranks, and whatever could prepare to make us an unforgettable class. Around the beginning of 2020 however, was when I began slacking on school and despising the early mornings more and more.

Unfortunately, this was also around the same time that COVID-19 started to seriously affect people on a global scale. At the time, I didn’t realize that even though I told myself I hated early school mornings, I would miss the structure they brought to my daily life. Although my senior year got cut short, I’m thankful that it reminded me that life is full of surprises and for making us an incredibly unforgettable class by default.
