Senior year ends with a sunset

0

On March 13th, 2020, a group of friends and I gathered at Shelby Hills to watch a sunset together.

The Governor had just announced his 3 week suspension of schools, and truth be told, we put little thought into the possible ramifications of such a measure. The following week was technically our spring break and our naïve minds thought only about the endless possibilities of extended free time.

But, now we can only think about all the missed time. Time which can unfortunately never be repaid.

If I am to be transparent, there is a hole in the calendar of my memory for the year 2020, where the feeling of missing rules, and I will never be able to fill it.

Senior year unknowingly ended on an early spring evening while watching a sunset with my friends. The whole time we smiled, we laughed, and we sang songs as the sun slowly dipped below the curve of the Earth. We had no idea what was to come, yet we had no worry in the world.

I guess there’s an ominous beauty to that.
