Finding positives in his senior year

0

This was it, our Senior year.

After three years of wanting to reach the top, we finally did. After looking up to the Seniors all through high school, we were finally the ones that were looked up to. We were finally going to be able to walk across that stage during graduation knowing that all the work we put in was finally going to pay off.

We had a good run this year until Wham, our Senior year was cut short by this terrible virus. It’s hard to believe that we, the class who was born during the tragic events of 9/11, are now ending our Senior year under the cloud of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But let’s think more on the positives instead of the negatives. This virus has brought the Class of 2020 closer together as a family, as we go down in history as the first class to have their year cut short all by a virus. We have had so many great memories together and we have really only reached the beginning of our lives.

Let’s rejoice over the times we have had together instead of the times we haven’t.

This photo was taken during my last Sidney Invitational cross country meet. This picture means a lot to me because looking at me next to my Senior poster shows me that I made it. That all the work I put into my four years of cross country led me to that point. I finished that Sidney Invitational proud of myself and my team, as were the champions of the race. My thoughts and prayers go out to the athletes who missed out on their Senior year.
