Russia School provides highest level of education for students

RUSSIA — “This year continues to be a year like no other as we continue to learn how to operate the school through the pandemic. Our staff have done an amazing job making this year as normal as possible for our students. As I told our parents early in the year, ‘Some things may have changed but the important things have not. The most important thing that has not changed is that we continue to provide our students with the highest level of education in a caring and student friendly environment. The students have shown remarkable resilience, and other than mask mandate and social distancing requirements, we are proud that we have had a very traditional school year,” said Superintendent Steve Rose.

His report continues:

This year we did our first ever fall homecoming crowning and parade. The parade gave our band members an opportunity to share their talents as we crowned our homecoming king and queen in an outdoor setting with proper social distancing. Congratulations to this year’s Homecoming King and Queen, Johnathan Bell and Becca Seger.

In other exciting news, this summer the community came together to install a new playground which has been extremely well received by our elementary students. This playground was truly a community effort with several local organizations donating their time and money to make it happen. With the help of community volunteers, the district was able to install the playground ourselves with supervision from the sales company, which provided a substantial savings to the district. With these savings, the district was able to add additional equipment to the playground and finish the project under budget. Russia School sincerely appreciates the RCA for their help with fundraising, the local business who donated financially or with material, and the many community members who volunteered their time to help with the installation.

In closing, I want to thank the Russia community for your ongoing support of Russia Local School through this challenging year. We have made the best of this year and I am optimistic that things will return to normal very soon. It is your constant support that makes Russia School what it is today and it is very much appreciated!
