Fourth-graders learn about fitness, nutrition

ANNA — Recently Anna Middle School FCCLA students Bailey Althauser, Lindsay McEldowney and Lauren Elliott went to the Anna Elementary School to teach a class about fitness and nutrition.

They taught Mrs. Egbert’s fourth grade class. They created a slide show and presented it to the class. It covered the importance of fitness and nutrition. The students played some games, one was called “Game On”, the other game was where the students had to put a bean bag on their head and try to jump rope. The games incorporated the lesson they taught the students.

Next the students were given a healthy snack that included banana chips, raisins, almonds, and honey Chex mix cereal. While they were eating their snack, they took their post-tests. The students all improved after they graded their pre-tests and post-tests.

Before they left they gave the students a goodie bag that contained a sport’s whistle, pencil, and a banana. To encourage them to continue working on their nutrition and exercise habits.
