Lottery honors Botkins teacher

BOTKINS — A Botkins teacher has been selected by the Ohio Lottery as its Teacher of the Week.

Ashleigh Ratermann is an intervention specialist at Botkins Local School District.

“She goes above and beyond in the classrooom to make sure that her students are successful,” said Ryan Loy, administrator. “She finds real world activities to help the students learn and are relevant to their life. Parentd and students love her as a teacher and students want to be in her room throughout the day.

“I cannot say enough positive things about the difference she has made in our specal needs students lives,” said Loy.

She received a package of Ohio lottery items that can be used within the classroom and a gift card for items to be used within her room along with a certificate.

Raterman said she is overjoyed by the honor. It came at a time when she was feeling she was getting into a monotonous routine and the news of being selected was exactly what she needed. She doesn’t ever ask for anything in return but the recognition of her efforts made her over the moon with happiness.
