SIDNEY — Sidney High School students were honored Thursday, May 12, during an awards ceremony. Scholarships and other awards were given to the students.

Students receiving scholarships were:

• The Academia Competition Team was honored for winning the Shelby County Academia for the eighth year in a row. Aaron Jensen is the Academia Scholarship winner. First-year awards went to Faith Bender and Carter Nuss. Second-year awards went to Andrew Blackford, Troy Oltman, Oliver Marchus and Conner Nuss. Third-year awards went to Andrew Mitchell, Anthony Mitchell and Nobel Zhou. Fourth-year awards went to Aaron Jensen and NourEddine Hijazi.

• Business Professionals of America Skills Competition winners were recognized. At the state level those honored were Damian Clason, Kirsten Hufford, Anthony Mitchell, Harley Rose, Alexander Saunders, Hannah Deal, Tim Nielson, Noureddine Hijazi, Josh Harlett, Dip Patel and Jonathan Perin. • Brennan Harvey received recognition of regional excellence in the arts from the 2016 Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition for her photography series, “Galaxies Away.” She submitted her portfolio to the Columbus School of Art & Design and was awarded a $71,000 scholarship.

• Joshua Marruffo received fourth place and Heidi Parker received honorable mention at the 2016 Regional Congressional Art Competition.

• Link Crew members were recognized for their work in welcoming freshmen to the school.
