HOUSTON — Houston High School senior Andrew Sluss has been awarded the 2016 Scott Ayers Memorial Scholarship. Sluss was announced as the winner of the $500 scholarship at the annual Houston High School FFA banquet.

Sluss is an active member of the FFA, holding the offices of treasurer, parlimentarian, and sentinel. He has participated in the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference, numerous state and national conventions and the State FFA Band. During his high school career, he has also been involved in Band, Academia, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Circle, and swimming. He plans to attend Bluffton University in the fall to pursue a degree in education. He is the son of David and Naomi Sluss.

The scholarship has been presented by the Ayers family annually for 11 years in memory of Scott Ayers, who was a member of the Houston FFA during his high school career. Ayers’ children, Logan and Shelby, are carrying on the family tradition by now being productive and successful members of the FFA.
