Fort Loramie Education Foundation awards scholarships

FORT LORAMIE — The Fort Loramie Education Foundation is a broad based, non-profit community organization whose purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Its charge is to operate for the benefit of students, former students, and all persons seeking education whose parents have been or who presently are taxpayers in or residents of Fort Loramie School District.

The 2016 Fort Loramie Education Foundation Scholarships were awarded to the following recipients.

Ben-Med Memorial Scholarship, $500; Maddie Brandewie. Her parents are Gerald and Stacey Brandewie. She will be attending University of Toledo.

Brad Meyer Baseball Memorial Scholarship, $824; Connor Rose. His parents are Ron and Sue Rose. He will be attending the Wright State University.

Elmer Schafer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000; Hillary Benanzer. Her parents are Bill and Lisa Benanzer. She will be attending Ohio University.

Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister, & Shenk Leadership Scholarship, $1,000; Makenna Geise. Her parents are Don and Cathy Geise. She will be attending Bowling Green State University.

Fort Loramie Community Service Club Scholarship, $1,000; Lauren Siegel. Her parents are Ted and Treva Siegel. She will be attending Ohio University.

Fort Loramie Community Service Club Scholarship, $1,000; Luke Carter. His parents are Gary and Pam Carter. He will be attending Wright State University.

Homer & Mary Lou Bornhorst Family Scholarship, $1,250; Melanie Kremer. Her parents are Todd and Joyce Kremer. She will be attending Bowling Green State University.

John & Victoria Albers Memorial Scholarship, $1,000; Riley Hausfeld. His parents are Ron and Amy Hausfeld. He will be attending Bowling Green State University.

Joseph & Mary Borchers Memorial Scholarship, $500; Alyson Poeppelman. Her parents are Kurt and Sharon Poeppelman. She will be attending the University of Toledo.

Minster Bank Scholarship, $1,000; Claire Kazmaier. Her parents are Kevin and Patti Kazmaier. She will be Bowling Green State University.

Red & Black Scholarship #1, $1,000; Noel Mescher. His parents are Ted and Amy Mescher. He will be attending Ohio State University.

Red & Black Scholarship #2, $1,000; Nick Ruhenkamp. His parents are Dave and Lisa Ruhenkamp. He will be attending Ohio University.

Richard Simon Memorial Scholarship, $1,000; Kara Magoteaux. Her parents are Mike and Diane Magoteaux. She will be attending Ball State University.

David and Julie Shuffleton Scholarship, $1,000; Aaron Schwartz. His parents are Jeff and Anita Schwartz. He will be attending Bowling Green State University.

American Legion Post 355 Scholarship, $1,000; Rachel Schmitmeyer. Her parents are Dennis and Laura Schmitmeyer. She will be attending Ohio State University.

Post 355 Legionnaire, Auxiliary and Sons’ Scholarship, $1,000; Janelle Bollheimer. Her parents are Richard and Annette Bollheimer. She will be attending Bowling Green State University.

Urban E. Ratermann Memorial Scholarship, $1,000; Jacob Kitzmiller. His parents are Matt and Angie Kitzmiller. He will be attending Ohio State University.

James and Marcia Schulze Memorial Scholarship, $1,000; Travis Siegel. His parents are Dave and Jodi Siegel. He is attending the University of Toledo.

James and Marcia Schulze Memorial Scholarship, $1,000; Cole Meyer. His parents are Ron and Cindy Meyer. He is attending Wright State University.

The current officers and directors of the Fort Loramie Education Foundation are, Janet Siegel, president; Brad Rethman, vice president; Shelly Pleiman, treasurer; Jane DeLoye, secretary; Dan Holland, superintendent; Luke Snider, director; Becky Puthoff, director; James Maurer, director/school board representative; and Rusty Eilerman, director. FLEF has developed a Mentor Program. The intent of this program is strictly to benefit the students by providing an avenue to establish contact with Fort Loramie Alumni for the purpose of the exploration of a certain profession and career planning. Consider joining the Alumni page provided on the school’s website at http://www.loramie.k12.oh.us/Alumni.aspx., in order to help build the contact base for the upper-classmen.
