Christian Academy students head back to the classroom

SIDNEY — Christian Academy School students will return to the classroom on Wednesday, Aug. 26. When they enter the building, many new faces will be greeting them.

Joyce Jacoby will serve as the school’s new librarian. Sue Myers will teach English for grades nine, 10 and 11.

Doug Adkins will serve as computer teacher and IT director. Becky Fishback will be teaching fifth- and sixth-graders.

Brenda Boss will be teaching primarily algebra II, geometry and calculus. Tracey Brewer will be teaching seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade math.

Tori Faulder will be teaching seventh- and eighth-grade English and social studies. She will also be teaching AP English.

There will be 10 new iPads for the elementary wing of the school. A total of 45 new computers have been added for the high school students, which are housed in the library.

Anticipated enrollment for the year is 150 students. A junior high soccer team has been added for the school year.

No school will be held on Monday, Sept. 7, in honor of Labor day. The ACSI conference is planned for Oct. 15-16 and there will be no school for students. On Oct. 23, there will be a 1 p.m. dismissal from school.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held Friday, Nov. 6, and there will be no school for students. The Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 25-27, with school resuming on Monday, Nov. 30.

On Dec. 18, there will be a 1 p.m. early dismissal for students. Christmas break will be from Dec. 21 to Jan. 1, which classes resuming on Monday, Jan. 4.

There will be no school on Jan. 18 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Feb. 15 for President’s Day.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held Feb. 25-26. There will be a 1 p.m. early dismissal on Feb. 25 and no school on Feb. 26.

There will be an early dismissal of 1 p.m. on March 18. Easter break will be held from March 21-25 and 28, with school resuming on Tuesday, March 29.

Graduation is planned for Friday, May 27. There will be no school on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. The last day of school for kindergarten to eighth-grade students is June 3, with a 1 p.m. dismissal. The last day of school for grades 9-12 is June 7. Teacher work days will be held June 6-7.
