Upper Valley Career Center names Students of the Quarter

PIQUA — Haley Gray, a Troy High School senior in Cosmetology, and Haley Stine, a Newton High School junior in the Medical Career Academy, were named the Upper Valley Career Center Students of the Quarter for the first nine-week grading period.

Haley Stine is the daughter of Daniel and Annette Stine, Troy. She was recommended by her Medical Career Academy instructor, Tami Yahle. Yahle shared that Stine has a positive, “can-do” attitude and offers to assist others in lab. Her academic teachers say Stine is an amazing student, a natural leader, extremely friendly, reliable and studious.

Haley Gray is the daughter of Donnie and Angie Gray, Troy. She was nominated by her Cosmetology instructor Sara Plozay who shared that Gray is a diligent worker who is focused on her academic studies. She helps others, is always pleasant and positive, and produces exceptional work in a timely manner. Her academic teachers state that Gray is an outstanding student, sweet, funny and a class leader.

Nominations for Student of the Quarter are submitted by career-technical instructors. In addition the student’s academic instructors are asked to rate each nominee’s effort during the nine-week grading period Students’ attendance, citizenship, leadership and effort are also rated.

Seven students earned commendation for their nominations. The “Award of Merit” designation for Student of the Quarter honors are: Parker Russell, Electrical Trades I, Olivia Quinter, Cosmetology I, Haley Peck, Exercise Science I, Mason Dilbone, Ag and Power Technologies I, Paige Wise, Interactive Media I, Jerri Bowling, Interactive Media II, and Darianne Ganger, Early Childhood Education and Care II.
