SIDNEY — The Shelby County Retired Teachers Association is accepting applications through April 29 for its annual scholarship.

To be eligible, a student must be enrolled now in a college program in the field of education. The applicant cannot be an upcoming high school graduate. A $500 scholarship is available.

Applicants may get application forms from their high school guidance counselors. Envelopes must be postmarked by April 29, as directed on the application form.

This is the 18th year the retired teachers have sponsored a scholarship program and the 15th year at the $500 level. The program is sponsored by the retired teachers of all the Shelby County school systems, including Sidney, Christian Academy and Lehman Catholic. The funds have been collected by donations, sales and memorials.
