HOUSTON — Students and staff at Hardin-Houston Local School District were sent home early from school Tuesday. And school has been canceled for Wednesday.

According to Superintendent Larry Claypool, students were released at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday and buses left the school at 11 a.m.

“The water pump that brings the water into the building, which keeps our water drinkable,” said Claypool,” “quit working.”

He said repairmen are at the school to determine whether something went wrong with the pump or something else is affecting the pump. Once the pump is repair, the water will have to be tested and approved via EPA regulations for schools.

Claypool said parts to repair the water pump are being overnighted to the school.

“There will be no school Wednesday for our students,” said Claypool.
