Russia grads get scholarships

SIDNEY — Seniors who recently graduated from Russia High School were awarded several scholarships through funds administered by the Community Foundation of Shelby County.

The Edward and Merilyn Borchers Family Scholarship Fund awarded renewable $1,500 scholarships to graduates Allison Gariety, Lindsay Meyer, and Kylie Wilson. Gariety, daughter of Ken and Ann Gariety, is studying occupational therapy at Rhodes State College. Meyer, a business major at Ball State University, is the daughter of Andy and Linda Meyer. Wilson attends the University of Toledo, where she is pursuing a nursing degree. She is the daughter of Kathy and Derron Wilson.

The Doc and Hilda Francis Family Scholarship awarded $1,250 renewable scholarships. Recipients were Jacob Pleiman and Claire Sherman. Pleiman is the son of Greg and Rose Pleiman. He is a mechanical engineering major at the Ohio State University. Sherman, daughter of Darryl and Heidi Sherman, is an accounting major at the University of Toledo.

The Kyle R. Magoto Scholarship Fund named Claudia Monnin to receive a $500 scholarship, which is renewable for a second year. She is the daughter of Jeff and Gina Monnin and majoring in accounting at the Ohio State University.

The Clair and Jeanne Naveau Family Scholarship Fund honored Hannah Bornhorst with a $1,000 scholarship. She is a special education major at Ball State University. Her parents are Michael and Helen Bornhorst.
