LIMA — The University of Northwestern Ohio has been awarded $9,700 as part of the Inspiring a Community of Shared Responsibility grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE). The grant money will be used during the 2017-2018 academic school year for the “See it. Stop it. Stand Against it” campus wide campaign to educate students on campus safety, stalking, and sexual harassment.

To be eligible for the grant, institutions of higher education in Ohio must have completed a Changing Campus Culture Year One Report and attended the Sexual Violence Awareness Seminar on March 15, 2017. Specifically, ODHE, through the Ohio Higher Education Inspiring a Community of Shared Responsibility grant program, sought proposals from colleges and universities that demonstrate a shared sense of respect and responsibility amongst community members.

Successful proposals had to be able to:

• Demonstrate a cohesive message to campus community members based on assessed needs.

• Use the toolkit provided through the ODHE sponsored workshop to develop a unique awareness campaign.

• Implement an objective way to measure the effectiveness of their proposed campaign.

• Demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and adaptability.

All colleges in Ohio that met ODHE requirements were able to submit proposals for the grant with individual schools eligible for up to $10,000 each.

Programming to fulfill the requirements of this grant will begin in the Fall Quarter of the 2017-2018 academic school year to include guest speakers, presentations, and a variety of educational and awareness opportunities for students.
