Versailles students go back to school Tuesday

VERSAILLES — Students in the Versailles Exempted Village Schools will be heading back to the classroom Tuesday, Aug. 29, as their summer vacation comes to an end.

A ‘Meet Your Teacher” night will be held Monday, Aug. 28, for students in kindergarten through fourth-grade from 6:30 to7:30 p.m.

There will be no school on Monday, Sept. 4, for the Labor Day holiday.

Bob Hoover is the new treasurer for the district. Other new staff members for the district include:

• Jon Hemmelgarn, middle school principal. Hemmelgarn was the former high school assistant principal at Washington Court House schools. He is a graduate of St. Henry High School.

• Tyler Bey, middle school teacher. A graduate of Versailles High School, Bey has taught the past three years at Brookville Schools.

• Jill Post, middle school teacher. Post has taught the past two years at Bradford Schools. She did her student teaching at Versailles.

• Leah Prenger, middle school teacher. She has taught the last four years at Catholic schools in the area. She has worked in the Versailles summer school program prior to being hired full time.

• Emily Kremer, high school teacher. Kremer has taught the past 10 years at Greenville Schools. She will assist the English Department. She is a graduate of Versailles High School

• Colton Prescott, high school teacher. Prescott will teach agriculture and assist with the FFA program. He had been a teacher in Indiana.

New cafeteria workers include DJ Barlage, Renee Bergman and Nicci Keiser. Mainternance workers include Bill Didier and Dave Luthman.

The district has partnered with a new company for its website and call home system. A parent portal, One View, will be implemented with the system which allows parents/guardians to update student information on a secure website.

Lunch prices for the year are $2.45 for kindergarten through sixth-grade students, and $2.60 for students in grades seven to 12.
