UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Nicholas Colby, of Houston, traveled to Jamaica as part of John Carroll University’s Campus Ministry Immersion Experience Program during the January 2018 winter break.

Immersion experiences challenge students to engage the realities of the world while reflecting on the values of human dignity and servant leadership. Students were assigned to one of three destinations. Below is a brief description of their immersion experiences in each country:

In Jamaica, the university partners with Passionist Volunteers International, a year-long volunteer service program. John Carroll students built relationships with members of various rural communities and spent time visiting local infirmaries, after-school literacy programs and St. John Bosco Boys Home.
