Stengel wins Jackson Center School spelling bee

JACKSON CENTER — Jackson Center Schools’ annual spelling bee was Feb. 2.

Seventy students in grades four through eight participated.

Winner of the bee was fourth-grader Ian Stengel, son of Chris and Elsa Stengel. The first runner-up was eighth-grader Kieran Yarkosky, daughter of Greg and Erin Yarkosky, and the second runner-up was fifth-grader Ben Zehringer, son of Nathan and Deborah Zehringer.

Stengel will represent Jackson Center at the regional spelling bee, which will be in March at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lima.
