Students sing together at workshop

More than 300 Junior High choir students in sixth- to eighth-grade met for a day full of singing workshops and choir team building games and activities. Clinician David Weimer directs the Fairlawn Junior High School choir during the event. Fairlawn Music Boosters hosted the event at Sidney First United Methodist Church for the Junior High Choir students from Anna Schools (Director Jenna Freisteler), Fairlawn Schools (Director Sonya Phillips), Jackson Center Schools (Director Cari Beth Noah), and Miami East Schools (Director Omar Lozano). Four professional choral clinicians worked with each choir: Frank Fahrer, Deb Bringman, Weimer and Alex Hadley. The clinicians are all retired choral conductors who adjudicate large group contests and solo and ensemble contests. “It is evident that choral programs are alive and well in our community,” said Phillips.
