Church plans Christmas Bake Sale Extravaganza

NEW KNOXVILLE — Members of the United Methodist Church of New Knoxville are pulling out their favorite recipes and are busy baking.

The annual Christmas Bake Sale Extravaganza will be held in the church fellowship hall on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Members of the church recently worked together to make homemade noodles and angel food cakes. Candy-making took place earlier this week, and early Saturday morning members will bring in their favorite baked items to offer for sale. Also for sale, a favorite of the community and a German tradition is homemade zwieback. Variety trays of cookies and candies will be available as well as small loaves of bread.

These are great for gift-giving or for those that live alone, event organizers said. Yeast breads, sweet rolls, pies and quick breads will also be available.

Cheesy potato soup, shredded chicken sandwiches and cookies will be available for lunch to dine in or carry out.

Proceeds from this event will benefit various missions of the church, locally and worldwide.

The church is located on the corner of German and Main streets in New Knoxville.
