SIDNEY – The Salvation Army has announced Capt. Samantha Lockard will be reassigned to The Salvation Army in Delaware, Ohio at the end of June.

“It is with great joy and great sorrow that I share about my upcoming move to Delaware” said Lockard. “The last three years in Shelby County have been truly amazing. I have met so many wonderful people, who I am blessed to call friends.”

Lockard moved to Sidney in July of 2019 as the assistant corps officer for The Salvation Army responsible for serving Shelby County. During her time in Shelby County, Lockard has enjoyed getting to know Shelby County both professionally and personally. She has often said that Shelby County felt like home just two weeks after moving here.

“Even though I knew moving was part of being an officer in The Salvation Army, this move was unexpected” said Lockard. “Knowing that Shelby County is still under the leadership of Capt. Katie (Mayes) gives me great peace. She is a great officer who will continue to do amazing things for Shelby County.”

Lockard’s last day in Shelby County will be Sunday, June 26. The community is invited to her Farewell Sunday at 10:30 a.m. or stop by her Community Farewell between 12:30-3 p.m. Both events will be at The Salvation Army located at 419 Buckeye Ave. in Sidney.
