Archbishop to discuss energy-saving in response to papal encyclical

CINCINNATI — In response to Pope Francis’s recent encyclical on the environment, “Laudato Si’” (“Praised Be You”), the Most Rev. Dennis M. Schnurr, archbishop of Cincinnati, will hold a press conference to discuss energy efficiency and pollution reduction in the state of Ohio.

It will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at St. Monica-St. George Parish Newman Center, 328 W. McMillan St., Clifton (Cincinnati).

Accompanying the archbishop will be the Rev. Al Hirt, pastor of St. Monica-St. George; Jeff Bohrer, property manager for the archdiocese; Dan Misleh, of the national organization Catholic Climate Covenant; and a local homeowner. They will discuss actions that individuals, businesses and state government can take in reducing energy use and promoting Catholic action on the environment.

The archbishop also will be joined by supporters from local religious congregations, businesses, schools and nonprofits.
