Elect Christ Jesus as permanent ruler

0

Well, as you read this today, we have a new president. Some reading this are delighted at the outcome, others, disappointed. But our democratic republic country did what our founding fathers wanted. The ability to peacefully vote in and peaceably vote out the people who we want.

Here is a scary thought though. What if the person you voted was voted in for life. A person that wasn’t given limited power through tenure, but what if we made that person our permanent president. Now, at the time of this writing, I have no idea who won. But I can say with all certainty, whoever is our new president; I wouldn’t want them for life. I don’t want a “permanent president”. I don’t trust anyone with that much power. No sane person would. But there is someone that we can trust to rule over our lives forever. Permanently. Revelation 1:5 say’s: “and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,”

Jesus the Faithful Witness that bore Witness of the Father’s testimony even unto death, even while being rejected, even while being mocked and ridiculed. He overcame death because He is the owner and the King of the age to come. First-born does not just mean “born first”… it means HEIR… In this culture, the firstborn was the heir of the estate. Other false religions, sadly, get this wrong and it keeps them in the dark. But Jesus died in obedience to the Father’s will, to show God as merciful and compassionate to us. The Father allowed the One and only Prince of Heaven to wrap His divinity in humanity and live a perfect sinless life FOR US. Something we each fail at. And then allowed that actual INNOCENT life to be taken by the hands of sinful man and punished for sins and crimes He did not commit. So justice against sin was met. But that verse tells us why we SHOULD make Jesus the ruler of our lives. “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,”. None of the candidate we voted for would give their lives for us, and even if they did, that would be it. They’d be dead. Just a memory. But Jesus STILL loves us. He rose from the dead.

Look, our candidates said things we wanted to hear. But Jesus shows us His love by action. He freed us by His blood. Dying a violent death of sacrifice for our sins was the action He took to give us something NO OTHER PERSON can ever promise; “6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Jesus changed our whole status. He takes us from a Being a slave to being a king. His love moves us from sinner to priest. Could your candidate do that for you? Sinners cannot please God. Our captivity to sin is that like of an addict to heroine. We can’t give up our sin. We hate it but enjoy it. We are addicted and we are a slave to the outcome of our sin; death and judgment. But because of God’s great love, Jesus has freed us from our standing as sinner, we are no longer under the anger and wrath of God, we no longer have to be in opposition to God. He has freed and liberated us from our slavery to sin and now invites us into His kingdom to rule and reign with Him for all eternity. And what makes that so humbling is that NONE of us deserve to be released from our sin, let alone to be granted a part in ruling and reigning with Him. Whoever you voted for on Tuesday couldn’t care less who you are. BUT, Jesus knows your name and He died for your sin. To free you. To liberate you and He still LOVES you today, tomorrow and for eternity! So much does His love and sacrifice for us change things that WE, who could never please God or look upon Him, are called to work and minister to Him as His very priests. The very one that God made the ultimate sacrifice for are now called to make sacrifices for His glory and honor and although they do not compare to His sacrifice, they bring Him honor and glory. Do you see why it is foolish NOT to vote for Christ? Why it is foolish NOT to elect Christ Jesus as your PERMANENT RULER? If you’ve not done that, I encourage to take a moment and ask Christ for pardon and for grace and allow Him to the permanent “Ruler” of your life.
