LOCKINGTON – Internationally-renown motivational music singer Kathy Troccoli will be presenting a free concert at the Lockington United Methodist Church on May 11. Even though there is no admission charge for the concert, a ticket issued by the church must be obtained to attend.

The concert titled, “Comfort by Candlelight” begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. The church is located at 2190 Miami Conservancy Road, north of Lockington. A free will offering will be taken.

Lockington UMC Pastor Bill Halter said Troccoli agreed to appear in Lockington because of his responding to an email on her distribution list. Halter said she was expressing her desire to share her gift to churches who could only afford to share a love offering for her appearance.

“There was a number to call if I believed we could host such an event. I knew the answer would be no if I didn’t call, so I said a prayer, called the number, and the answer was yes! A Kathy Troccoli concert had a major impact in my life as I was preparing for my call to ministry 15 years ago,” Halter said.

He added, “Kathy is not a Christian entertainer, she is a woman of God who shares her love and worship for Jesus Christ with all who are able to attend and experience her gifts from God. I am so blessed and thankful that she is willing to share her gift with us.”

The sanctuary capacity is 556 people, and nearly half those seats have already been claimed for the concert, Halter said. The tickets are distributed on a first come, first served basis.

According to information on her website at www.kathytroccoli.com, in 1982, the founders of Reunion Records created their own record label resulting in the launching of Troccoli’s musical career, an Italian girl from New York.

Her first radio hit “Stubborn Love,” propelled a career that has spanned more than 30 years. The website states, “Whether belting out a big band tune, crooning her velvet voice on a jazz standard or tenderly singing a hymn – her talent is unique, powerful and filled with warmth. The penetrating songs, arresting transparency, candid personal reflections, engaging stories and childlike humor have allowed her the longevity few have had the opportunity to experience.”

Troccoli’s awards include 24 recordings, 18 No. 1 radio hits, 19 Dove Award nominations, two Dove Awards and three Grammy nominations. She is also a songwriter as well as an author.

On the website, Troccoli said, “I am doing exactly what I believe I was created to do, to encourage, motivate, and offer hope.”
