100th anniversary of Fatima apparitions celebrated

RUSSELLS POINT — The American Society of Ephesus Inc. has announced the a schedule of events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. These events will be held May 13 – Oct. 14 at the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine overlooking Indian Lake at 261 Chase Ave., Russell’s Point, unless otherwise noted. The public is invited.

• Saturday, May 13, 7:15 p.m., Marian Procession. Following the 6 p.m. Mass, join the members of St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave., Russells Point, and the Rev. Shawn R. Landenwitch to process from the church to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima on the same date that Pope Francis will be appearing in Fatima to celebrate the first of the six apparitions of the Blessed Mother on May 13, 1917. A reciting of the Holy Rosary will follow at the Shrine.

• Tuesday, June 13, 6 p.m., Stations of the Cross. The Rev. Shawn R. Landenwitch will lead the stations around the west side of the property at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima on the 100th Anniversary of her second appearance to the children in Portugal.

• Thursday, July 13, 6 p.m., The Holy Rosary. Participants will pray the Rosary around the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima on the 100th Anniversary of her third appearance to the children in Portugal. Bring your own rosary!

• Friday, Aug. 18, 7 p.m., Noted Catholic author and scholar Dr. Scott Hahn will present the talk: “Silent Knight, Holy Knight: St. Joseph for Our Times.” This event will be held at the Winner Harvest Barn, 7317 State Route 47 West, DeGraff. Advance tickets must be purchased at St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave., Russells Point, Ohio 43348 ($10 per adult). Children are free, but must have a ticket. No tickets at the door. Dr. Hahn will do a book signing afterwards. Seating limited to 700 persons. On-site parking is free.

Sat., Aug. 19th: 10 a.m., Dr. Scott Hahn will present a talk on “Fatima and the Holy Family.” This will be an outdoor event at the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine on the 100th Anniversary of Mary’s fourth appearance at Fatima. Advance tickets must be purchased at St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave., Russells Point ($10 adult). Free parking at the church, with shuttles starting at 8:30 a.m. Children are free, but must have a ticket. Hahn will do a book signing afterwards. Seating limited to 250 persons. No admittance without a ticket. No tickets at the door.

• Saturday, Aug. 19, 6 p.m., The annual Feast of the Assumption Mass at the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, celebrated by the Most Rev. Joseph R. Binzer, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Free parking at the St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave., Russells Point, with shuttles starting at 4:30 p.m. Seating limited to 350 persons. No tickets required and no charge.

• Saturday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m., Christian Concert. A local Christian will be performing artist in an outdoor concert by the water at the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine. Free parking at St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave., Russells Point, with shuttles starting at 5:30 p.m. Bring a blanket, lawn chair and picnic basket.

• Saturday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m., Eucharistic Procession led by the Rev. Shawn R. Landenwitch from St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave., Russells Point to the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, followed by a cookout with family games and entertainment on the grounds of the Shrine.

It is located at St. Mary’s Point, 261 Chase Ave., Russells Point.
