Muslims celebrate Ramadan

DAYTON — Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting from sunrise to sunset, began on Friday night, May 26, and will end on Sunday night, June 25.

Islam teaches that Muslims are to abstain from eating and drinking during the daytime and focus on self-reform of habits and character. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA will host prayers and Iftar (dinner) events during Ramadan to raise awareness of this month. These dinners are open to the public.

A program, breaking the fast, prayer service and dinner will be held every day at sunset through June 26 at the Fazl-i-Umar Mosque, 637 Randolph St., Dayton.
