DAYTON — The Greater Dayton Area Faith Community Nurse/Health Ministers Network will hold its quarterly meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Miami Valley Hospital South, Education Center Conference Room, 2400 Miami Valley Drive, Dayton, Ohio. The continuing education presentation “Follow the Yellow Brick Road…The Heart, The Brains, The Courage in the Provision of Exceptional Palliative Care” will be led by Jackie Matthews, RN, MS, AOCN, ACHPN, CNS, oncology clinical nurse specialist and vice president, Palliative & Support Care Services, Innovative Care Solutions.

Palliative care is the healthcare specialty that focuses on providing relief from pain, symptoms, and the stresses of chronic, serious, or life limiting illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for patients and families by supporting the primary medical plan, improving care coordination, and communication of the patient’s expectations, values and goals. This event will provide information to improve your skills in primary palliative care, as well as recognize and understand the process for accessing specialty, multi-disciplinary palliative care. One hour of continuing education is available.

Registration is required.
