Tipp homes decorated for Christmas tour

TIPP CITY — It is not too late to organize a group to come visit the 2015 Christmas in the Village Home tour. Both Preview Night and Tour Day ticket sales are on pace to reach last year’s levels, which is good news for the area nonprofits. Proceeds from the Home Tour, featuring 10 homes in the West Broadway Boulevard neighborhood, are shared with the many nonprofits that contribute time to the planning of the tour.

Of special interest is Preview Night on Friday, Dec. 4. This candlelight event affords ticket holders an opportunity to tour homes with a smaller number of guests and under the cover of nightfall, giving the holiday lights time to shine.

Following the Preview Night touring (6:30-8:30 p.m.), guests are invited to the Plaid Lounge for the Preview Party, held on the second floor of the Eagles, 202 E. Main St. A new party highlight is a Christmas tree auction. Imaginatively designed by professional interior designers, these trees will go home with the highest bidders.

While at Preview Night, enjoy activities like savoring hot appetizers from Greenfire Bistro, grooving to the award winning Bethel jazz ensemble, sipping spirited holiday drinks from Buckeye Distillery, and more. Cap off your night by bellying up to the Winans bar for chocolates and coffees. On your way out the door, pick up your Swag Kit full of coupons from area merchants.

This venue has been redesigned for the evening by professional designer Martha Mellon, known regionally for her decorating talent. Tickets are $50 each and are available only through midnight Monday, November 30 or while supplies last. The Preview Night headcount is limited.

The focal event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5. This self-guided tour features expanded hours (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Tickets are $16 in advance, $20 the day of the tour. Musicians and entertainers will be found whimsically entertaining guests in unexpected spaces along the Tour, but the centerpieces of the Home Tour are the historic homes and their unique seasonal decorations.

Tickets are on sale at the following locations in Tipp City: Coldwater Café, Greenfire Bistro, Harrison’s Restaurant, Hock’s Pharmacy, Hotel Gallery, Sugden Furniture and Tipp Monroe Community Services; as well as at Home Comfort Gallery in nearby Troy, Ohio.

Online ticket orders for Preview Night will be mailed in advance while Tour Day tickets need to be picked up on Dec. 5 at the RE/MAX Victory Ticket Room and Will Call, 101 E. Main St.
