Love with a pure heart to see God

How many of us have said, “God if you will just show Yourself to me, I will believe in You.” Often I said this when I was living a lifestyle of sin. When things were going good, I said I didn’t believe in God, and when things went bad I would secretly pray to God, asking to show Himself to me and I would change my ways! Who would say that is a selfish way of doing things? You let me do whatever I want and treat you any way I want and when I need you, show up, right now! The great thing is God is here. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:20). And Jesus said in Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” For me, it was all about fitting in with whoever I thought I needed to impress! What it really came down to is I wanted to be accepted and loved, and I realized that love is only found in the Creator’s arms! Asking God to forgive me of trying to do it my way and turning to God’s way through Christ Jesus, did I start to understand what real love is! It’s a choice, and that choice will cost everything and you might lose everything but as Jesus said what’s it to you if you gain the whole world and lose your soul? In other words, your heart, passion; your love!

What is the will of God? That we all have a personal relationship with Him through Christ Jesus being our Lord and Savior. Jesus being our Lord means we take His rule and His law of doing life! John 15:10 “If you keep My (Jesus) commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” Jesus said to love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and all the other laws hang on these. This is a very broad view on love. Considering my understanding of love is what I have seen in this world! The Holy Spirit showed me the point of reference for the love of God is in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20). I grew up thinking this is old, but it’s by the grace of God that we are saved — it’s a gift! Which I believe is true! But every good relationship is a gift! It’s a giving of each other’s heart, mind, strength, and with God, our soul! 1 Timothy 1:5, “Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.”

Jesus says in Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.” We are saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ— it’s a gift that Jesus paid our debt of sin on the cross, and it’s by grace that God gave us the Ten Commandments as a point of reference to know right from wrong and to live by them. Even though we fall short, we ask forgiveness, promising to never return to a lifestyle of sin which the devil tries to get us back into by making us feel that we not good enough! God let His Son die for us! That tells me that God values all of us because He sent His Son to save us! For it is only through the Holy Spirit that we can say Jesus is our Lord, which means being governed by His law to keep our conscience, faith, and heart pure so we can see God! Psalm 119:165, “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.“

We are the apple of God’s eye, and the Holy Bible says we are to keep the law of God as the apple of our eye! It also means the law will keep us safe even in our sleep! We are to teach our children this way of God’s law as they get up, as they sit down, as they walk, and as they lay their head down to sleep. To write it on our doors, on our fence post! Why so extreme? Because God loves us, cares for us, saves us, and keeps us safe from the death of sin to show us the way, by the grace of Christ Jesus! Jesus gave us a twofold commandment: We should love God with all our heart and love our neighbors as ourselves. We can never forget that brotherly love is nourished by a relationship with God, without God being our divine point of reference for love, none of our good deeds will last because our love is base on our own opinion and will end! The end of God’s command is the beginning to fulfill His plan in Christ Jesus so we can love with a pure heart to see our Heavenly Father!
