SIDNEY — The United States Air Force Band of Flight Rock Band will present a patriotic concert in Sidney on June 7 at 7 p.m. at the Shelby County Courthouse as part of the Shelby County Bicentennial celebration.

The band is stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, a part of the 88th Air Base Wing under the command of Col. Bradley W. McDonald.

The US Air Force Band of Flight presents more than 350 performances annually, providing quality musical entertainment for official military functions and ceremonies as well as civic events and public concerts. The seven-member Band of Flight Rock Band is under the command of Lt. Col. Shawn E. Coil and the direction of Command Master Sgt. J.R. Erb.

“We are fortunate that Sub-Committee Chair Nancy Steinke has been tenacious in her pursuit of a military band as part of Shelby County’s Bicentennial Celebration,” Barhorst said. “She’s literally left no stone unturned in her efforts.”

Shelby County Bicentennial Committee Co-Chair Bob Guillozet agreed. “Nancy has contacted the US Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force in the quest to find a military band to perform as part of our bicentennial celebration. When phone calls were not returned and there was no response to email messages, she’d contact them again, and again, and again. Her effort provides a great lesson in how missions are accomplished.”

Weather permitting, the concert will be performed on the grounds of the Shelby County Courthouse. The concert will begin at 7 p.m., and will last until 8:30 p.m. Those in attendance will need to bring lawn chairs or blankets if they wish to sit on the lawn.
