Public invited to Christmas cantata

To the editor:

Are you ready for Christmas this year? I’m not! However, I have a great suggestion to help us focus our minds on the real reason to celebrate Christmas.

At Sidney First Methodist Church, we are working hard on a new cantata this year called, “Bethlehem’s Child.” It tells the Christmas story, beautifully weaving a musical tapestry as it blends the old with the new.

You will find some new music like “Run, Shepherds,” which really moves right along. You will also find familiar favorite carols you always love to hear at Christmas. The familiar story of Baby Jesus’ birth will be told to go along with the music.

Why not give yourself a blessing and come to enjoy this cantata with us at Sidney First? I think you will find it to be a refreshing and uplifting time to celebrate with us as we celebrate God’s greatest gift of all — Jesus!

All are welcome. We will be presenting “Bethlehem’s Child” Sunday, Dec. 20, both at the 9 and 11 a.m. services. Sidney First Methodist Church is located at 230 E. Poplar St. We look forward to seeing you there and hope you will be genuinely blessed this Christmas.
