To the editor:

Here are two reasons why I will vote for Janet Garrett for Congress: health care and the opioid epidemic.

Janet Garrett believes health care is a right and should be available to everyone. She will fight to get Medicare for all. She will work with people of both parties to make this happen because she knows that cooperation is needed to fix the health care problem.

Her opponent just wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act but has no plan to replace it. Jim Jordan thinks the Medicaid expansion was a bad idea, even though it allowed 700,00 Ohioans to get coverage. He believes insurance companies should be able to deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions. Janet Garrett wants Congress to do whatever it can to fight the opioid epidemic because she knows that too many families have been destroyed and too many people have died because of it. She wants funding for research, prevention, treatment and education. Jim Jordan thinks that families, schools and churches should take care of the problem with no government help. The differences could not be clearer on these issues.
