To the editor:
The Shelby County Historical Society is coordinating efforts with the Shelby County Vets to DC Committee to participate in the Wreaths Across America project. This is the fifth year this project has been implemented in our county as we recognize and honor those that have served our country.
Live wreaths may be purchased from the Committee for placement at veterans graves on Dec. 19. These are the same wreaths placed on the graves in Arlington National Cemetery. Wreaths are one for $15 or three for $30 and may be picked up at Graceland cemetery between the hours of 10 a.m. to noon.
Wreaths may be donated for placement at Graceland or other cemeteries of veterans’ graves. Application forms are available at the Shelby County Historical Society, the Shelby County Veterans Center or the society’s Ross Center, located at 201 N. Main St., Sidney, Ohio. Members of the committees are also present on the Court-square each Saturday morning at the Great Sidney Farmers Market. The final date for ordering wreaths is Nov. 23.
The public is invited to attend a special ceremony at noon on Dec. 19 to honor our veterans and the placing of wreaths by the Boy Scouts and other volunteers. Let us remember and honor our veterans during this upcoming holiday season!
