To the editor:

I am sure that your 9/11 concert was nice. But I feel it is very unfortunate that you didn’t recognize a local hero who was at 9/11.

Randy Hall was a member of Dayton Box 21 Search & Rescue. It would have been good if he had been included in your tribute.

Instead, my hero was at Sidney YMCA doing the 110 flight challenge. Randy has been medically retired since he has lung cancer from fumes and debris in the NYC during 9/11. Yet, he dressed in full firefighting gear and accepted the challenge to honor his team.

Next time, it might be a good idea to use 1st hand knowledge of someone who was there — not reading a story.
