FISH seeks donations

To the editor:

Another month has flown by on the 2017 calendar. For some families this means attempting to stretch their family budget even further. Fall and winter means more bills for needed things: school supplies, warmer clothes, heating expenses, more food for meals, and numerous other bills that need to be addressed.

FISH of Shelby County can help in a couple of these areas: clothing and food. We ask the citizens of Sidney and Shelby County to go through their closets and drawers for gently used clothing items that they no longer use. This would include shoes and boots. We are always in need of warm coats and blankets. Our food pantry appreciates all donations of non-perishable food items that are not expired, personal care items, and paper products. We want to thank Sidney Foodtown grocery store that help us provide the perishable items. Their employees are doing double duty, their regular work and filling the food vouchers we send them and we appreciate their support.

There are a lot of people working behind the scenes at FISH so we can continue to grow and help our community We believe that we need to help our own citizens first. There is a saying “our volunteers aren’t paid because their services are priceless.” Our business is growing daily and we are in desperate need of more volunteers. Come check out our facility and pick up an application. We look forward to showing you around FISH. We are proud of the work we do to help others.

We want to say THANK YOU to our loyal supporters — we sometimes forget those two important words.

Blessings to everyone,

Becky Gillman
