Sidney will be hostigg the Division 7 regional championship football game Friday night at the stadium, and that has necessitated a chance in the Sidney High girls basketball opener, also scheduled for Friday night at the high school.

Sidney was scheduled to host Russia in the season opener, but because of the playoff game, the girls game has been moved to Russia High School. Sidney athletic director Mitch Hoying said Russia will come to Sidney next season instead of the game being at Russia.

The basketball action will start at 6 p.m., with Sidney playing Jackson Center, since Russia does not have a junior varsity team this season.
