Six county/area athletesannounce college signings

Six county/area athletes have announced they have signed to continue their athletic careers at the college level next season.

Alex Brinkman, Anna

Anna senior fireballer Alex Brinkman signed recently to play baseball at the Division 1 level at Bowling Green State University, he announced recently during a signing event at the high school.

Brinkman finished 5-1 for the Rockets last spring and was named first-team All-County after posting a miniscule 0.74 earned run average.

Behind his pitching the Rockets finished with a 24-7 record and won a district championship.

Chloe Flora, Botkins

Flora was outstanding all season in cross country at Botkins, and announced recently that she will continue her running career next fall at the University of Dayton.

Flora was unbeaten during the regular season, and then went on to win both the district and regional meets. She then capped off her amazing season by placing fourth and earning All-Ohio honors in the State Cross Country Meet.

Jessica Boerger,

Fort Loramie

Boerger was named the County Player of the Year last winter as a junior in girls basketball, and recently signed to play basketball at Ohio Dominican University next year. There, she will join another former Fort Loramie standout in Darian Rose.

Boerger averaged 15 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for the Lady Redskins last season, and led them to the Division 4 state championship. She had an outstanding performance in the state tournament, with 10 points and 12 rebounds in the semifinals and 25 points and seven rebounds in the championship game.

Jenna Mounts,

Houston

Mounts will be playing Division 2 volleyball next fall after signing to play at Concord University, located in West Virginia.

Mounts was second-team All-District 9 this past season, and also was named to the honorable mention list on the All-County team.

She holds the single-season serving percentage record at Houston at 98.3 this season, with 28 aces. She also had 128 kills, 53 blocks and a team-high 315 digs.

Madison Lammers,

New Knoxville

Lammers announced recently that she has signed to play volleyball next fall at Owens Community College in Toledo.

The 5-foot-9 outside hitter led the 16-10 Lady Rangers in kills with 248 this past season, served 21 aces, and had a team-high 71 total blocks, including 29 solos.

Owens is currently 37-7 this season and playing in the National Junior College Division 2 nationals.

Lexi Fliehman,

Versailles

Fliehman recently signed her letter-of-intent to continue her swimming career at Miami University, where she hopes to qualify for the Olympic trials.

She’s about to embark on her senior season in swimming at Versailles, and will be trying to reach the state meet for the fourth year in a row.

As a junior, she qualified for state in two individual events and two relay events. She finished fifth in the Division 2 50-free and finished 12th in the 100-free. She also was part of the 11th-place 200-free relay team and the 15th-place 200-medley relay team.
