FORT LORAMIE — Fort Loramie finally got back on the court Tuesday for the first time since Nov. 21 and rolled to an easy 67-17 win over Botkins in County girls basketball action.

The defending state champions are now 1-0 in the league and 2-0 overall. Botkins drops to 0-2 in the County and 1-2 overall.

Fort Loramie was ahead just 7-4 after one quarter but exloded for 36 points in the second quarter to take a 43-6 lead into the halftime break.

Loramie had three players in double figures, led by Katy Hoying with 15. Holly Frey added 13 and Reyan Frey finished with 11.

The Lady Redskins were 27-for-62 from the field for 43 percent and 12-for-17 from the line. They also had 26 steals, with Jessica Boerger leading with six and Taylor Gasson adding five. Maddi Brandewie had four assists.

Loramie (67) — Gasson 5, R. Frey 11, Quinter 6, Luebke 4, Stang 6, Brandewie 2, Boerger 5, Hoying 15. H. Frey 13.

HOUSTON — The Jackson Center Lady Tigers finally got their season started after the volleyball team’s run to the state championship, and it was an impressive debut, with Jackson taking a 51-39 road win over Houston.

Jackson is 1-0 on the year and Houston 0-1 in the County and 0-4 overall.

The Lady Tigers had a 19-point first quarter that Houston couldn’t recover from. It was 30-14 by the half.

Cassie Meyer finished with 16 points to lead Jackson and Kamryn Elchert added 12. Nicole Fogt chipped in nine.

Elchert sank three three-pointers.

Jenna Winner had 12 for Houston and Macey Stang 11.
