HOUSTON — Houston shook off four losses to start the season and notched its first win with a 46-17 win over Riverside in non-league girls basketball action Thursday night.

The Lady Wildcats, 1-4, led 9-6 after a quarter then increased it to 26-10 at the half.

Jenna Winner tossed in 17 to lead the Lady Wildcats, and Macey Stang added 10.

Riverside (17) — Smith 4, Stephens 2, Davis 7, Giles 4.

Houston (46) — Maier 2, Hensley 4, Winner 17, Stang 10, Jarrett 6, New 5, J. Monnier 2.

Botkins 65, Ridgemont 24

BOTKINS — The Botkins Lady Trojans had two huge quarters Thursday night, and it was enough to lead them to an easy non-league victory over Ridgemont in girls basketball action, 65-24.

Both teams are now 2-2 after the verdict, and Botkins will host Houston on Saturday.

The Lady Trojans sprinted to a 20-7 lead after a quarter, then after outscoring the visitors just 7-5 in the second period, they put up 27 points in the third quarter to open up a 54-18 bulge.

Botkins had four players in double figures, led by Kayla Heuker with 17. Sarah Bergman and Paige Lane added 12 apiece and Jenna Pitts finished with 10. Bergman made it a double-double with 12 rebounds, and Lane hit six of her nine field goal attempts. Casey Woodall handed out five assists and Bergman also finished with six steals.

Ridgemont (24) — Jenkins 5, Richardson 4, Howland 4, McGrath 6, McFadden 5.

Botkins (65) — Pitts 10, Heuker 17, T. Greve 2, Esser 1, Bergman 12, Altherr 2, Lane 12, J. Greve 5, Woodall 4.

JC 56, Lima Perry 10

LIMA — Jackson Center coasted to an easy win over Lima Perry in non-league play Thursday, 56-10.

Jackson, 2-0 now, got 18 points from Nicole Fogt and 13 from Pauline Meyer in the win.

The Lady Tigers rolled to a 17-4 lead after a quarter and made it 30-6 at the half.
