Lehman girls go to 2-0 in NWCC play

WAYNESFIELD — The Lehman Lady Cavaliers went on the road and came away with a 42-38 victory over winless Waynesfield in Northwest Central Conference action Thursday night.

The win put the Lady Cavs at 4-3 after their fourth win in the last five games, including two in a row. They host Houston today.

Lehman struggled at the start, falling behind 12-4 after one quarter. But the Lady Cavs got things headed in the right direction with a strong second quarter, outscoring the Lady Tigers 14-6 to knot the score at the half.

Hannah Fogt and Allie Hall both had 10 for Lehman and Brogan McIver was right behind with eight points. Hall made it a double-double with 10 rebounds, and Fogt added six.

Minster 36, Marion 35

MINSTER — The Minster girls remained unbeaten on the year with a 36-35 win over Marion Local in Midwest Athletic Conference action Thursday at Minster.

The Lady Wildcats go to 5-0, with a 3-0 mark in league play. Marion Local is 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the league.

Minster was down 8-6 after a quarter but went up three at the half and held on from there.

Rosie Westerbeck and LeAnn Huelsman had eight points apiece for Minster, and Lindsey Roetgerman and Hannah Schmitmeyer pulled down seven rebounds apiece.

Marion Local’s Sarah Fesenmeyer was the game’s only double-figure scorer with 10, and Emily Mescher added nine points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Neither team shot well, Minster hitting just 12-for-45 for 26 percent and Marion 12-for-39 for 30 percent. Marion outrebounded the Lady Wildcats 25-21.
