TROTWOOD — Sidney took on mighty Trotwood without their top big man, and gave the Rams all they could handle Friday night in Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division boys basketball action.

The Jackets were dominated in the first quarter, then had an outstanding second quarter to take a 30-21 lead at the half.

But the Rams came storming back and eventually regained the lead in the early stages of the final period, going on to beat the Jackets 61-52.

Sidney, which played with 6-foot-4 post player Lorenzo Taborn, who is out of town practicing for an all-star football game, drops to 1-2 in the conference and 8-4 overall with Troy coming to the Sidney gym Friday. Then on Saturday is the annual Sidney-Lehman clash, this year at Lehman.

Cameron Gallimore had 17 points in the first half to give the Jackets the sizeable halftime advantage, but the Rams adjusted in the second half, holding him scoreless in the third quarter while they rallied.

Sidney led still led 41-39 after three periods, but the Rams hit a three to start the final period. Isaiah Bowser scored for Sidney, but that would be the Jackets’ last lead. The Rams for a three-point play to go up 51-45, and the Jackets couldn’t keep up.

Gallimore had 17 at the half, and was held without a point in the second half, when the Jackets scored just 22 more points. Andre Gordon finished with 16.

Jackson Center 59, Loramie 44

JACKSON CENTER — Jackson Center canned 10 for 10 from the line in the fourth quarter, enabling the Tigers to pull away to a 59-44 victory over the Fort Loramie Redskins in County boys basketball action Friday night.

The Tigers go to 6-1 in the County and 10-1 overall and are at New Knoxville tonight. Fort Loramie drops to 2-5 in the league and 5-8 overall and hosts Minster tonight.

Jackson led by 10 twice in the first half, only to allow the Redskins back in it. The second time, Loramie went on a 9-0 run to end the first half trailing by just one at 25-24.

It was still anybody’s game after three at 41-37, but the Tigers spread the floor in the final period and got to the line.

“Give Loramie credit. We had them down by 10 a couple times in the first half and they came back,” said JC coach Scott Elchert. “But we came out and played better in the second half, and then spread the floor late.”

Brady Wildermuth had 23 and Drew Sosby 21 for the Tigers, and Ethan Zorn just missed a double-double, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds. He hit three three-pointers.

Tanner Rosengarten had 11 and Dillon Braun 10 for Loramie

Riverside 65, Lehman 60

DEGRAFF — Lehman got off to a good start, but the Riverside Pirates came back behind Landon Kelsey and pulled out a 65-60 thriller over the Cavaliers in Northwest Central Conference play Friday night.

Lehman is 1-2 in the league and 2-8 overall heading to Houston tonight. The Pirates at 2-1 and 4-4 and host Vanlue tonight.

Dylan Arnold had nine first-quarter points to get the Cavs to a 16-15 lead after one. He would go on to score 20 and hit three threes.

The Pirates led 35-28 at the half, however, as Kelsey got heated up, with 12 points in the second quarter.

Kelsey finished with 35 points for the Pirates and also hit three threes. Crawford added 11 for the Pirates.

For Lehman, Michael Bunker added 14 points.

Minster 50, DSJ 27

MINSTER — Minster won its second in a row, this one in confernece play, with a 50-27 rout of Delphos St. John’s.

The Wildcats go to 2-1 in the league and 5-5 overall heading to Fort Loramie tonight.

The Wildcats used a big second quarter to get by the Blue Jays. It was just 12-11 after one, Minster outscored the Jays 15-2 in the second quarter.

Josh Nixon had 16 to lead the Wildcats, who were 19 for 46 from the floor for 41 percent. Delphos hit just 7 for 27, 26 percent.
