Loramie girls notch big win

RUSSIA — The Fort Loramie Lady Redskins rolled to a big win over Russia in county girls basketball action Tuesday, winning 67-31.

Loramie is now 8-1 in the league and 13-4 overall heading into the showdown Saturday at home against league-leading Anna.

Russia falls to 4-5 in the league and 10-9 overall after its third straight loss. The Lady Raiders host Houston Saturday.

It was close for a quarter at 13-10, but Loramie outscored the Lady Raiders 14-2 in the second quarter and built on the lead from there.

Ten Fort Loramie players scored, with Jessica Boerger leading the way with 20 points. Holly Frey had 13 points and Hattie Meyer added 10 off the bench.

The Lady Redskins were 17 for 21 from the free throw line.

“Jess (Boerger) played one of her best games of the season,” said Loramie coach Carla Siegel. “She also had seven rebounds six assists, three steals and two blocked shots. Holly Frey had seven rebounds also.”

Houston 46, Fairlawn 26

SIDNEY — The Houston Lady Wildcats were up by just six after three periods before outscoring Fairlawn 18-4 in the final quarter for a 46-26 victory in County girls basketball Tuesday.

Houston goes to 4-5 in the league and 7-11 overall heading to Russia Saturday. Fairlawn dips to 0-10 in the league and 3-15 overall and is at Mississinawa Thursday.

For Houston, Macey Stang had 15 and Jenna Winner 13. Winner was 6 for 7 from the field.

Fairlawn (26) — Brautigam 7, Roe 4, Francis 8, Dudgeon 4, Tyler 3.

Anna 50, New Knoxville 42

ANNA — Anna, the No. 2-ranked Division 3 team in the state this week, fell behind by seven in the third quarter, but a 14-0 run at that point was the difference as the Lady Rockets beat New Knoxville in non-league girls basketball action Tuesday.

The win puts the Lady Rockets at 17-0 with Graham coming to town on Thursday.

The Lady Rangers are now 10-8 and will host Parkway Thursday.

New Knoxville started fast, leading 18-10 late in the first quarter. It was just a two-point game at the half, but New Knxoville pulled out to a 29-22 lead in the third quarter. At that point, the Rockets scored 14 straight and the Lady Rangers never recovered.

Avery Bensman was 10 for 10 from the free throw line and finished with 21 points for the Lady Rockets. Macey Huelskamp added 11. Kenzie Schroer had 19 for the Lady Rangers.

Lehman 56, Piqua 30

SIDNEY — Lehman rolled to a 32-11 lead at the half and coasted to a 56-30 victory over Piqua in non-league girls basketball action Monday.

The win puts the Lady Cavs at 8-10 overall heading into a game Saturday at Arcanum.

Piqua drops to 3-16 and hosts 18-0 Sidney Wednesday.

Lehman had five players score six or more points, led by Hannah Fogt with 14. She was 6 for 10 from the floor.

As a team, the Lady Cavs sank 21 for 60 from the field, 35 percent.
