Edison, Lorain County split

LORAIN — The Edison Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams split two games with Lorain County Wednesday in OCCAC action.

The men lost 83-76.

Malik Thurman had 21 points and seven rebounds for Edison, while Damion Cook had 19 points and 14 rebounds. Jalen Hearn had 17 points and three blocked shots, Cody May scored 12 points and Chris Landrum dished out six assists.

Edison, who trailed just 35-33 at halftime, was 28 of 75 from the floor for 37 percent, including five of 15 from 3-point range for 33 percent.

The Chargers converted 15 of 23 free throws for 65 percent.

• The Lady Chargers won 91-60.

Edison led 24-18, 52-30 and 75-42 at the quarter breaks.

Brooke Dunlevy had 25 points, six rebounds and four steals, while Cadence Jacobs had 20 points, 19 rebounds and four assists. Brooke Hickey added 17 points and seven rebounds, while Carly Buzzard had 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Sydney Miller filled out the stat sheet with seven points, five rebounds and eight assists.

Edison was 37 of 88 from the floor for 42 percent, including seven of 21 from behind the arc for 33 percent. The Lady Chargers converted 10 of 17 free throws for 59 percent.

Edison won the battle of the boards 56-45 and had 20 turnovers to Lorain’s 15.
