Minster ends up 9-0 in MAC

COLDWATER — Minster took care of Coldwater Thursday night to finish Midwest Athletic Conference play with a perfect 9-0 record and an outright girls basketball championship.

The Lady Wildcats won 44-33 to raise their overall record to 18-3 with one regular-season game remaining, Tuesday at Wapakoneta.

Minster led by a lot early, but Coldwater clawed back to within 12-10 at the end of the first quarter. The margin was just eight at the half, but Minster pulled out to a 15-point lead after three quarters.

Courtney Prenger was unstoppable for the Lady Wildcats, pouring in 21 points, 19 of those coming over the first three quarters.

In the junior varsity game, Coldwater handed Minster its first loss of the season 43-40. The Minster reserve team is now 20-1.

New Bremen 43, Marion 35

NEW BREMEN — New Bremen upped its record to 6-2 in the MAC and 16-5 overall with a 43-35 victory over Marion Local in girls basketball Thursday.

The Lady Cardinals trailed by four at the half but used the second half to pull out the win. They outscored Marion 10-4 in the third quarter and 19-13 in the fourth.

Paige Jones had 15, Debbie Paul 12 and Alyse Clune 10 for the Lady Cardinals.

Russia 52, Botkins 46

BOTKINS — Russia led by 10 at the half but had to hold on to beat Botkins 52-46 in County girls basketball Thursday, in a game in which seven girls scored in double figures.

The win gives Russia a final 6-6 record in the league and a 12-10 regular-season mark. Botkins finishes 1-11 and 9-13. Both open tournament play a week from Saturday.

Russia was led by Cameo Wilson and Maria Herron with 12 each. Laurissa Poling and Whitney Pleiman added 1o apiece.

Kayla Heuker had 14 for Botkins, Sarah Bergman 11 and Jenna Pitts 10. Bergman was 7 for 8 from the line.

Lehman 56, Ridgemont 23

SIDNEY — Lehman rolled to an easy Northwest Central Conference win, 56-23 over Ridgemont Thursday at Lehman.

The Lady Cavs finish NWCC play with a 5-1 record, good enough for runner-up behind Upper Scioto Valley. Overall, the Lady Cavs are 10-10 with Bradford coming to the LHS gym Saturday.

Sophomore Alanna OLeary and junior Hannah Fogt both tossed in 16 to lead the Lady Cavs. Senior Allie Hall handed out eight assists and Grace Monnin, a freshman, had seven steals.
