TIPP CITY — The Division 3 girls basketball sectional continued to be just a practice site for the Anna girls as the top-seeded Lady Rockets had a second straight lopsided victory to advance to the finals on Saturday.

The Lady Rockets led 22-2 after a quarter and 42-10 at the half, and went on to blast overmatched Indian Lake 78-24 in sectional semifinal action at Tipp City Wednesday night.

The scene now moves to Franklin-Monroe High School for the championship game on Saturday, and the starting time is different than originally scheduled. Anna will now play at 12:30 against Miami East for the right to advance on to the district tournament a week from Saturday.

Anna is now 21-3 on the season. Indian Lake finishes the campaign at 3-20.

Anna had four players finish in double figures in scoring, led by Macey Huelskamp with 15. She had a double-double, also pulling down 10 rebounds.

Abby Gaydosh, Avery Bensman and Sarah Bettinger all added 10 points each, with Bettinger also pulling down eight rebounds.

Anna was 31 for 79 from the field for 39 percent and 16 for 24 from the free throw line, 67 percent. Bensman was 6 for 8 from the line. The Lady Rockets also held a 50-27 margin on the boards.

Lake was just 7 for 41 from the field for 17 percent.

Lincolnview 36

LAFAYETTE — The New Knoxville Lady Rangers advanced to the second round of the Wapakoneta Division 4 District girls basketball tournament Wednesday with an easy win over Lincolnview, 64-36, at Allen East High School.

The win puts the Lady Rangers at 15-8 and sets up a battle with Midwest Athletic Conference rival Marion Local on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Allen East.

The Lady Rangers jumped out to a 13-4 lead after one quarter behind the play of Rachel Leffel, who had seven in the quarter. She added seven more in the second period, and Kenzie Schroer hit a couple from long range and had eight to help the Lady Rangers to a 38-21 halftime bulge.

Leffel finished with 18 to lead Knoxville and Schroer added 17. Jenna Schwieterman finished with 11, all in the second half.

Versailles 53, NE 35

PITSBURG — Versailles also advanced to the Division 3 sectional championship game after whipping Northeastern Wednesday night 53-35 in action at Franklin Monroe.

The Lady Tigers are now 18-6 after their eighth win in a row, and they will be back in action Saturday at Franklin Monroe in the sectional finals against Madison at 11 a.m. That starting time represents a change from the original 2 p.m. tipoff.

The game was tight early between the No. 3-seeded Lady Tigers and ninth-seeded Northeastern, but Versailles pulled away to a four-point lead late in the period and then had a big second quarter. They outscored the Lady Jets 18-6 in the quarter and that opened up a 32-16 margin at the half.

Kami Ording drained a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter and Lauren Monnin had seven points.

She went on to finish with 16 to lead the Lady Tigers and Danielle Winner added 12.
