Rangers advance, Cardinals fall

COLDWATER — New Knoxville advanced to the sectional semifinals with a 47-36 victory over Hardin Northern in Division 4 Sectional boys basketball at Coldwater Tuesday night.

The Rangers go to 9-14 on the season and advance to play second-seeded St. Henry Friday night at 6:15 at Coldwater.

Knoxville sprinted to a 17-9 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 31-19 at the half, heading into a low scoring final two periods.

Nathan Tinnerman led the Rangers with 13 points and Logan Leffel added 10.

Neither team shot well. The Rangers were 15 for 41 for 37 percent, and Northern just 8 for 35, 23 percent.

Knoxville dominated the boards 33-21, with Nick Topp pulling down a team-high eight and Zach Neuman adding seven.

Ada 75, New Bremen 58

COLDWATER — New Bremen’s season came to a close in Division 4 sectional play at Coldwater.

The Cardinals had a tough second half and lost 75-58 to Ada in first-round play. The loss ended Bremen’s season at 4-19.

Ada, 13-10, advances to play fourth-seeded Minster Friday night at Coldwater at 8 p.m.

Greg Parker had 12 and Tate Myers 11 for the Cardinals.

Versailles 68, Greeneview 49

DAYTON — Versailles advanced to the D-3 Sectional championship with a 68-49 victory over Greeneview in action at Dayton Belmont Wednesday night.

The win put the Tigers at 18-6 and advanced them to the sectional championship Saturday at 5 p.m. against either Miami East or Brookville.

Justin Ahrens had 21 to lead the Tigers.
